Abstract
Pancasila is an important foundation that unites this country since the independence day. Current situation related to tolerance issues continually happen in this country, therefore higher education should conduct a proper pancasila learning for each student. Lecturers are important in learning, especially in implementation of pancasila. Strong characteristic is needed so that learning can be effective. The questions research in this study included: how does the role of lecture as leader in this course? How those characteristic implemented in the classroom? Purpose of this research is to find out the characteristic of the lecturer in Pancasila learning. Three lecturers from Pancasila at XYZ University were used as research subjects. Triangulation uses interviews with students and observations. It was found that the characteristic of the lectures involves educational leadership and engagement of the lecturer toward the subject and the institution. Each as found has strengths and weaknesses. These findings are from the results of interviews with students and observations.
